Achala Sachdev

The most famous song “Ae Meri Johra Jabeen” sudden comes on our lips, by any reason. This unforgettable song is featured by Achala Sachdev and Balraj Sahni and was one from the most romantic songs at that time and till now. 

Achala Sachdev’s twinkling of eyes and smile just stole the several hearts of the people. She was an Indian Actress who well-known for her amazing acting in Bollywood films. Achala Sachdev was born on 3rd May 1920 in Peshawar in the state of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. She started her career as a child artist and then she further worked in the role of mother and grandmother.

Achala Sachdev was well recognized in the role of Balraj Sahni’s Wife in Waqt in 1965 grandmother in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge in 1995. She also worked in All India Radio in Lahore and also in Delhi. She started her career in the film industry from Fashionable Wife released in 1938. Talking about her film career, she had done more than 130 movies including Yashraj banner films, in which some are such a memorable one that no one can forget easily. It can be a task to list some of the movies of her in which she had done breathtaking acting, such as, Waqt (1965), Sabse Bada Rupaiya (1955), Char Dil Char Rahen (1959), Hare Rama Hare Krishna(1971), Kanyadaan (1968), Mera Name joker (1970), Julie (1975), Kal Ho Na Ho(2003), Dil Kya Kare(1999), Amanat (1977), Laila Majnu (1976), Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (2001) etc.

Achala Sachdev was married to a businessman Clifford Douglas Peters and settled in Pune with him. Rather this she had a Son named Jyotin and a grandson too. Due to an accident on September 2011, she got totally paralyzed and unfortunately, she lost her vision also. Later she moved and reside with her son Jyotin in U.S. and taken her last breath on 30 April 2012 in Pune.
